Shop with a Cop

This Year Holiday Happiness Came Wrapped in a Thin Blue Line

Over the course of two weekends this holiday season, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department opened their hearts to children in need. On December 11th and 17th, more than 60 children, ages 3-18, joined deputies at the Rancho Cucamonga Target and Walmart for a holiday shopping spree sponsored by Target's Heroes and Helpers Grant and the Sheriff's Employee Benefit Association. Deputies carried, walked hand in hand with, and even chased the excited kids throughout the stores as they selected their most desired toys, clothing, and electronics.

"Deputies, for the most part, encounter these children during times of distress. Programs like Shop with a Cop allow deputies an opportunity to establish lasting positive relationships with our youth," said Rancho Cucamonga Police Department Lieutenant Frank Montanez. These simple but impactful contacts between our children and the deputies patrolling their neighborhoods will hopefully forge lasting memories.
