Youth Say, "It's Okay to Air Your Dirty Laundry"
Celebrate National Mental Health Awareness Month
Join Healthy RC and communities nationwide this May to celebrate National Mental Health Awareness Month. Healthy RC Youth Leaders believe "It's Okay to Air Your Dirty Laundry" and shed light on mental health awareness for the entire community. These empowered middle and high school volunteers scripted, filmed, and created a brief public service announcement for the statewide Directing Change Film Competition. Their 60-second video is inspired by the cultural barriers and mental health stigma associated with the term "don't air your dirty laundry" which translates to "La ropa sucia se lava en casa" in Spanish. The message of the film aims to inspire teens to make a difference and openly share mental health issues with a friend or to call the suicide hotline 1-800-273-8255. This video is part of Healthy RC's broader Your Mind Matters campaign and strategy to promote breaking mental health stigmas and bringing accessible, culturally appropriate mental health resources to the community.
